I started off in consulting, and after 18+ years, I wanted to put into practice all of the advice I had given over the years to CIOs and IT leaders. In 2014, I left consulting for Kimberly Clark Healthcare/Halyard Health but found my passion for home health and have stayed there ever since. Enabling care in the home allows people to recover quicker with less infection in the place they live.
Yes, after years of providing advice my goal was always to eventually put that advice into action for myself.
Many years ago, I worked for Ritz Carlton Hotels and met my mentor, Tom Lynch. Tom told me that I could work in a Ritz or stay in a Ritz but they were diverging paths.
I believe that technology will get more personal and help to predict heath outcomes. I believe that it will also allow clinicians and healthcare professionals to better understand conditions, and the factors that change conditions can be seen more clearly to better and prolong lives.
I read a lot and try to connect with other tech leaders.
Population health analytics will drive better health.
Be patient. Focus on the financials and empower your team to make decisions.
As long as I am growing and evolving as a leader, I feel content in my role and its impact.
I would like for people to focus on the long term instead of immediate gratification. Gratitude is paramount.
